Pham Thanh was born and raised in Thanh Hoa, Viet Nam. He is a young architect with a solid foundation in architectural education from Assumption University (ABAC) in Bangkok, Thailand, where he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from 2003 to 2008. His initial role as a 3D architect at SMEC Vietnam from May 2008 to April 2009, where he first developed his interest in digital modeling technologies.
His career trajectory advanced significantly when he joined Constrexim ICC in Hanoi from April 2009 to October 2014, serving as Design Architect and eventually rising to Vice Director of the Design Center. The transformation from architect to entrepreneur wasn’t immediate.Recognizing that technical expertise alone wouldn’t be sufficient to build a sustainable business, Thanh pursued his MBA from Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management between 2010 and 2012, balancing his studies with his professional responsibilities. He not only focuses on architectural design, BIM technology and business management but also specialized knowledge in BIM and proficiency in English, creating the comprehensive foundation for his entrepreneurial vision.
In October 2014, he founded ViBIM (Vietnam BIM Consultancy and Technology Application Company Limited) in Hanoi, where he continues to serve as Founder and CEO. With an initial team of just three staff members, and starting up in the field of BIM outsourcing for the global market, Thanh took a calculated risk based on his conviction that BIM represented the future of construction.
“I started with a powerful belief and passion for the transformation happening in the construction design industry through BIM” he explains. “Following that passion, and what I felt was the right path, especially when such industry-wide change was something few considered. This conviction gave me strength and ultimately led to achievements. The courage to embrace change is probably what will define my career in my memory, and it speaks to my capacity to contribute to society in the years to come” he shares.
While building his company, Thanh also contributed to national BIM standards as part of the Vietnam Official BIM Steering Committee at the Ministry of Construction from 2014 to 2019. This dual role allowed him to shape both his company and the broader industry simultaneously.
Under his leadership, ViBIM has grown from a three-person startup to a respected organization of 30 professionals serving international clients across the United Kingdom, Australia, the United States, Canada and some EU regions.
